“Red Deer” represents those special moments when a person makes a brief connection with a wild animal, whether a butterfly landing on your shoulder, or unexpected encounter a fox in the garden. Or, indeed, locking eyes with a red deer out in the wilds!
I particularly enjoyed painting the antlers and the variety of fur textures on this majestic animal.

"Highlander" Original

“Highlander” was an interesting subject to paint, with the long, tangled hair being a particular challenge, but a welcome one!
Despite the name, this cow is actually a southerner! The reference was captured by the wonderful photographer Julie Morrish in the grounds of Killerton House in Devon. So, residing in Devon myself, he’s a neighbour!
